We’re happy to announce the opening of a new trail, Maple Reprise! Running between Ridgie/Powerline and the top of Tucker Hill Road, the new trail is an intermediate flow trail built for riders with a wide range of abilities. It connects the trails of the Eurich Pond/Swell Hill area to those of the Camels Hump State Park Howe Block network to enable riders to link their favorite Mad River Valley trails into big rides. Misty Maple, which runs in parallel, remains open for riders seeking a more technically demanding climb or descent. At the top, Maple Reprise splits left off of Ridgie at it heads towards Techie. The new trail runs northeast for a few hundred yards along the fall line before heading downhill. After the first couple of nicely banked turns it crosses Techie, then zigzags down through another dozen or so berms to end at the top of Tucker Hill Road. Please note the posted quiet zone about half way down - try to stifle the hoots and hollers if you can! Maple Reprise works great as a climbing trail as well. Riders can park in the Enchanted Forest lot on Tucker Hill Road and ride up the road two hundred yards to the trailhead. Riders should be alert for bikes coming from the other direction as this is a bidirectional trail. We would like to thank the awesome partners who made this great new trail happen. Most importantly, the Kalkstein family, who own most of the land through which Maple Reprise and Techie run, and Mark Snyderman, who provided the generous financial support to higher top-notch, professional trail builders. Which brings us to the third partner we wanted to thank, L&D Trailworks, who sculpted all those turns and berms, and armored potential wet spots with smooth, closely fit slate that should stand up well to Mad River Valley rainfall.
