Mad River Riders Trail Rules
- Please keep pets leashed and under control at all times and clean up after them, due to private property, farming, food production, user safety, water quality, habitat impacts, and other concerns. Dogs are not allowed on Marble Hill Farm trails. (This includes parts of the Catamount Trail, Sugar Run, and Techie.) We'd really appreciate you not bringing pets onto Evolution and controlling them very carefully at the Revolution trailhead at American Flatbread. If challenges arise, our landowners reserve the right to further disallow pet access or close trails.
- Respect landowners, neighbors, and other visitors. This includes staying on trails and being quiet, particularly where trails are close to homes. Please be especially quiet on Tootsie Roll, Flying Squirrel, and the upper half of Evolution. Trail use is dependent on positive landowner relationships and respectfully sharing.
- For now, lower Gumball is closed. All the trail to the north and east of Old Center Fayston Road is off limits. Please respect the landowner's request to close this trail. For more information, visit our blog.
- Stay off trails when the ground is soft, especially in winter and spring. Avoid leaving footprints and ruts. Help with maintenance. Build or change only with permission and planning with the Riders' trail crew.
- Please respect seasonal closures, including daytime use during Youth Hunting Weekend and deer rifle season. Check the VT Fish and Wildlife site for dates.
- Always ride, ski, run, and walk in control. Bikers yield to all pedestrian users. Skiers yield to hikers and snowshoers. Due to COVID concerns, right of way is determined by whoever can most easily get off the trail to allow passing. Please be patient and stop in a safe visible spot off the trail.
- Leave no trace. Pack it in, pack it out. No camping or fires, unless otherwise permitted by the landowner. GMNF has free primitive camping.
- Park in legal areas. Parking at Lareau Farm-American Flatbread is prohibited Thursday-Saturday from 4PM - 9PM. Please no personal alcohol consumption at Lareau Farm. Feel free to patronize their bar and say hi to Kim!
- Parking at Lareau Swimhole is always available and linked to Lareau Farm with a trail underpass south of the swim area.
- Remember to share gracefully, smile widely, and appreciate often.
