Help Build and Maintain Trails - 2025 Trail Care Days
Mad River Rider volunteers contribute thousands of hours every year! We organize trail days throughout the winter, spring, summer and fall. We welcome support of all types, from throwing downed limbs off the trails to driving an excavator.
Thank you, volunteers from our two May trail care days. Stay tuned for more 2025 dates. Please email us if you're interested in helping.

If you run across fallen trees or other trail maintenance needs, please log a report on Trailforks or email us .
Please build, add to, or change trails only with permission and planning with the Riders' trail crew. Please allow us to approach landowners that we earned access permission from. Continued trail access is dependent on positive landowner relationships and respectful sharing.
Please contact us if you would like to contribute to our ongoing building and maintenance efforts.

What is a Mad River Rider Trail Steward?
- They are avid trail users and enjoy nature
- They actively show interest in a particular trail
- They have a sense of community and wish to volunteer to make the trail a better place for all users
- They want to assist the Riders in its future trail enhancement and building plans
- They support the trail's seasonal opening, sweeping the trail to give the “all clear” to open. Clearing downed trees, remediating minor drainage issues (leaf blockages), etc.
- They assess and communicate the trail's needs. This can be minor maintenance, addressing a spot that won't drain/dry out and requires a reroute, opportunities for enhancement or new trail scouting and building
- The steward will relay and react to information related to downed trees or other hazards as reported by other trail users
- They represent Mad River Riders in a positive manner as they are the "spokesperson" for the multi use purpose of the trails
